There is no doubt that data visualization is of great importance in enhancing Decision Support Systems
(DSS). This comprehensive study emphasizes the necessity of integrating data visualization to improve
decision-making processes across various sectors, such as the commercial, healthcare, and industrial
sectors. Data visualization acts as a bridge linking raw data to valuable insights, enabling decision-makers
to recognize patterns, identify trends, and make evidence-based decisions. The primary goal of this study
is to explore the role of data visualization techniques in enhancing DSS, focusing on the advancements
that contribute to the optimal use of big data.
This study mainly focused on the impact of data visualization on decision-making processes within DSS.
By transforming complex data into visual formats, decision-makers can understand information more
easily, leading to accurate and swift decisions. The commercial case study highlighted how the
introduction of a cloud-based data management platform helped improve IT infrastructure and achieve
instant access to data and its analysis, thereby accelerating decision-making processes. In the healthcare
sector, the study highlighted the role of visualization tools in epidemiology, illustrating how effective
presentation of health data can lead to timely interventions and a better understanding of emerging health
trends. In the industrial sector, the case study demonstrated the effectiveness of the "PlanningVis" system
in enhancing production planning through real-time data visualization, contributing to improved resource
utilization and cost reduction.
