چکيده
Abstract
The present research investigates and compares the performance of various Software-Defined Networking (SDN) controllers in large-scale simulated environments. Given the unprecedented growth of the Internet of Things (IoT), Intelligent Vehicles (IoV), and the increasing demand for low-latency applications, traditional network architectures face significant scalability and flexibility challenges. SDN, by separating the Control Plane from the Data Plane, offers an innovative solution for network management. In this architecture, SDN controllers act as the "brain" of the network, responsible for decision-making, traffic management, resource allocation, and enforcing security policies. However, the performance of SDN controllers in operational environments and Wide Area Networks (WANs) presents a major challenge due to the massive volume of events and requests.
The objective of this seminar is to quantitatively evaluate parameters such as response latency, throughput, controller resource consumption, and stability under various traffic scenarios and simulated attacks (e.g., DDoS) using powerful simulation tools like Mininet. This study will help identify the strengths and weaknesses of commonly used SDN controllers such as OpenDaylight (ODL), ONOS, Ryu, POX, and Floodlight when facing the demands of large-scale networks. The findings of this research will provide practical insights for selecting the most optimal SDN controller in the design and implementation of future network infrastructures, including 5G networks and beyond. Furthermore, by addressing the gap in comprehensive and systematic comparative studies in realistic scenarios, this research contributes to advancing knowledge in the field of SDN.
