  • چکيده
The increasing frequency of oily wastewater discharges an‎d oil spill accidents has highlighted the urgent need for efficient, scalable, an‎d environmentally friendly oil/water separation technologies. Conventional separation methods, including gravity settling, filtration, an‎d chemical demulsification, often suffer from low efficiency, high operational costs, an‎d poor durability under harsh conditions. In this seminar, the potential of 3D printing (additive manufacturing) as an enabling platform for designing advanced separation devices is investigated. The work first introduces the theoretical background of wettability, surface energy, an‎d interfacial phenomena, followed by an overview of analytical techniques—such as contact angle measurements, SEM, FTIR, an‎d porosity analysis—that are essential for linking fabrication with performance. Various 3D printing technologies (FDM, SLA/VP-SL, SLS, DIW, an‎d DLP) an‎d materials (PLA, TPU, cellulose, ceramics, an‎d composites) are discussed, with emphasis on their intrinsic chemistry, mechanical properties, an‎d suitability for surface functionalization. A literature review of recent studies highlights biomimetic superhydro‎phobic designs, porous an‎d gradient structures, hydrogel-modified membranes, an‎d bionic self-similar lattices, all of which demonstrate efficiencies above 97–99% an‎d long-term reusability. Comparative analysis reveals the strengths an‎d limitations of different approaches, while also underscoring challenges such as fouling, coating stability, an‎d environmental sustainability. The seminar concludes that 3D printing provides not only structural freedom but also a versatile integration of green materials, smart surface functionalization, an‎d multifunctionality, making it a promising pathway for next-generation oil/water separation technologies.
