Abstract:
In this research, three metal organic frameworks (MOF); Cu(BDC), IRMOF-1 and MIL-53 (Fe) were synthesized by microwave method. Then, the adsorption capacity and selectivity of the mentioned MOFs were measured by volumetric method. In the next part, the composites based on the mentioned MOFs and mesoporous materials MCM-41 and SBA-15 were synthesized and their adsorption capacity and selectivity were measured at different pressures.
At the end, it was evident that the composite contains Cu(BDC) MOF and MCM-41 showed 30% improvement in CO2 adsorption capacity than MCM-41. In addition, selectivity of this composite for CO2 than CH4 was improved about 20% than MCM-41.
Due to the high adsorption capacity and selectivity of the MCM-41/Cu(BDC) composite, its adsorption capacity for the mixture of CO2 and CH4 was measured too, and the real selectivity was determined. According to the adsorption isotherms, Sips and Toth models were explaining the adsorbention behavior with more accuracy. Both of these models, explain the single layer adsorption on a heterogeneous surface.
