Abstract:
Alumina graphite refractories, have high corrosion resistance against molten steel and slags, good erosion resistance peroperty against molten metals and good thermal shock resistance. Oxidation of graphite and carbon of resin binder is the main issue of Alumina graphite refractories. There are generally two ways to reduce oxidation, first by encouraging the formation of compact quasi-graphite carbon bond by adding transition metals, and second by using antioxidants such as Al and Si. This research can promote the understanding of phase, microstructure, and the differences in the behaviors of the two transition metals named Mo and Cr with a metal anti-oxidant named Al. The prepared samples contain 3 and 8 Wt. % of Al, Cr and Mo, 7Wt.% graphite, 5Wt.% resin and alumina, formed by uniaxial press. Samples cured in 200℃ about 24h then heated to 1000, 1200, 1400 ℃ in coke and held for 3h at the maximum temperature.
