Abstract:
Nowadays, evaluating the performance of organizations is the most important processes and management tool for enhancing the level of quality and achieving Organizational excellence. In this research, according to the importance of this subject, first a qualitative approach based on content analysis is used to establish the relationship between seven principles of quality management, requirements of ISO 9001 and 9 criteria of excellence model with performance evaluation criteria. Then a quantitative approach (Data envelopment analysis (DEA) method) is applied to calculate the efficiency scores and present an improvement plan.
The objectives of this study are as follows:
• Presenting an approach to evaluate the performance of organizations by using the combination of the data envelopment analysis (DEA) model with excellence model and quality management system.
•Identifying weakness points in performance of organizations. (In terms of organizational excellence and quality)
•Analyzing the capability of utilizing enablers to develop the criteria related to results.
In this study based on review of literature in these two approaches, the assessment data of organizations in terms of quality and excellence in two cases of food industry and automotive industry are collected through accomplished projects, assessments and self-assessments (using secondary data). And so these two approaches are tested in practice.
Two proposed approaches in this study, present solutions to enhance the level of criteria related to quality and organizational excellence and changing the organizations to efficient DMUs. And also present an approach to organizations for allocating limited resources to improvement projects with the aim of enhancing organizational excellence.
