Abstract:
Nowadays, due to the reduced presence of individuals in the public sectors and the reduction of level in social interactions more necessity is felt to design spaces that promote greater involvement of people in the public area. Also the lack of semi- private open spaces that can meet the resident’s residential complexes needs is evident. This study begins with this question, which open space efficient housing complexes have a sense of belonging. With the methods of documentary and field, different views of the residents of five residential complexes in Isfahan during questionnaire within the effective elements on the sense of belonging to place were collected and analyzed by the software SPSS. This research is a combination of descriptive and case studies. The collection of library studies in this study includes investigation of a variety of open spaces and traditional courtyard houses features and their impact on social interactions, as well as investigating the forming the open spaces elements, internal and external case studies and…. In addition to the library studies, methods such as behavioral observations, take notes, photographs, etc are also used. The results showed that the sense of belonging to place in traditional houses open spaces is more in comparison with new complexes. This belonging in the physical elements, the characteristics of the shape and size of elements (including the shape and size of the yard, the shape and size porch or portico, skylight and shape of windows and doors) and textures and decorations (including decoration of the yard, facade and interiors) as well as features such as access, hierarchy, security, flexibility of spaces, etc…) is more exposed in traditional homes. Finally, it was concluded that the new complexes, through making samples of traditional houses and bearing in mind the yard and decorating inside and outside, the sense of belonging to places can be increased.
