Abstract
Nowadays along with development of constructive activities in the one hand and the lack of available spaces in the construction sites on the other hand and of course the need of reducing the cost of construction, designing the construction site becomes a critical issue in construction projects.
A good facilities layout, is an arrangement that in addition to raising productivity and reducing the duration and cost of project, provides a safe and suitable work environment for staff and residents near the sites. Thus taking into account the environmental and safety aspects, the problem of layout optimization of constructin site is considered as a multi-objective optimization problem. Unfortunately less attention is paid to this issue in the previous studies.
In recent years, various methods have been employed to solve this problem indicating that the researchers still have not reached to a sound method to solve this problem.
In this thesis, a new algorithm, called colliding bodies optimization (CBO) and its enhanced version (ECBO) are used as single-objective problems and also the algorithm of multi-objective colliding bodies optimization (MOCBO) and enhanced version of it (MOECBO) are presented and utilized for multi-objective problems. The results indicate the success of implementation of algorithms and their abilities in finding optimal layouts. To evaluate the optimal layouts of the multi-objective problems, the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method is employed.
