Abstract:
In this current work, the wear behavior of Al based composite rainforced by iron base intermetallic has been studied. Fe in Al alloy appears in needle like in room temperature. In this work, the effect of some parameters such as stirring temperature, liquid cooling rate and Fe content has been studied on shape, size and Distribution of beta intermetallic. The best microstructure achieved in 1200 rpm for 5 min in metallic mold that stirred near the beta nucleation temprature. After the wear test (pin on disc) in three load 6,20 and 40 N in 1000 m distance with 0.13 m/s wear rate, the weight loss, friction coefficient, worn surface, subsurface and debris has been studied. The result showed that stirring improved the wear behavior of produced composite.in 6 and 20 N the stirred Samples containing 1.5 %Wt. Fe and in 40 N, the stirred Samples containing 2.5 %Wt. Fe showed the best wear Resistance.
