Abstract:
The optimum placement of planar antenna array elements for precise Direction-Of-Arrival (DOA) estimation on a limited area is proposed in this paper. For this purpose, Cramer-Rao Lower Bound (CRLB) is performed as a suitable and useful criterion. The invasive weed optimization (IWO) algorithm is used to find the placement of antenna elements in the array configuration for obtaining an accurate isotropic DOA estimation. The optimization results show higher efficiency enhancement compared with the similar uniform circular array. The ambiguity problem that can occur for arrays is investigated for optimized arrays. Simulation results are performed to verifying CRLB performance gain and ambiguity free arrays, also.
