Abstract:
Women account as a large group of the population, who work both outside the home and at home as houseworking. Nowadays houseworking is considered as a job. According to the Ministry of Health, the prevalence of some physical illnesses such as musculoskeletal diseases is more commen among women. The result of this report shows the relationship between musculoskeletal disorders and using home tools and equipments. In the other hand kitchen is the main workplace at Iranians home, where large number of tools used in. Despite the use of electric tools kitchen are expanded, a large and important part of the activities and tasks in the process of cooking is still done using manual tools. Moreover, the variety range of these tools are availabe on the market, most of the users tend to buy these kind of products as a set or multitasking tools. This can create a competitive atmosphere for manufacturers and designers in the market and leads them using UCD approach. In this study, user-centered process was used. 110 participants were questioned as volunteers. Furthermore by using survey method the frequency and use of 48 types of hand tools was questioned and proper kitchen set was proposed: knife, peeler, grater, chopper and cutting board. So user needs were studied and extracted designs of user-centered process were assessed and the best idea was selected. Then, manufacturing considerations were put and the proposals with new mechanism were introduced. Finally, the proposed set of products were presented as 3D visualization and 3D prototype.
