Abstract:
According to increased development of communication on the Internet, media broadcasting, and Information sharing environments, creation of a high-secure environment for the communications is essential. Data hiding in the context of compressed video can be used in monitoring devices, creating a secure layer between receiver and transmitter, error correction in video transmission or transmission of additional data (like subtitles), and many other things, without need for additional bandwidth.
HEVC is the latest video coding standard that was introduced in 2013 and will be implemented on the Internet and broadcast environments in the coming years. Having adequate knowledge about different parts of the new standard as a cover file (host), its opportunities, and new places shared for use in embedding, we can achieve the data hiding.
The proposed algorithm intends to embed selective data at DCT and DST transform coefficients after quantization process for watermarking and markup purposes. Each data bit is embedded to one selected array of chosen luminance 4×4 quantized transform block of Intra frame as ±1 or ±3 according to the application. Transparency maintenance and distortion control of compressed video after embedding are important points and these points are considered by doing correct site selection for insertion. Accordingly, algorithms and opportunities that proposed for insertion in H.264 standard are carefully reviewed and subsequently, a suitable place for insertion in the HEVC standard is selected.
Implementation results of a video encoder with the ability to insert data in the HEVC standard at HM reference software are presented for different transform types (DCT and DST) and quantization parameters. Insertion in DST transform coefficients after quantization is a new data hiding opportunity in compressed video by HEVC standard that has been proposed in this research.
