Abstract
In today society due to the increasing population and land price, the only way to respond to habitation need is to construct high-rise residential complexes in metropolitan cities, but at the same time the lack of public open spaces and increasing number of users would reduce the quality of these spaces and also lose their roles as a physical Context for social interaction and social activities which promotes individual and community health. This research is trying to recognize and investigate the fundamental factors in high-rise buildings design that cause to Improve social interaction and activities in the open spaces of residential complexes. In this research first the case is studied with quantitative methods by investigating the background of the research, collecting and categorizing the effective factors of urban open spaces, and then with qualitative method and tools of participant observation in residential complex, investigation was carried out in order to remove or add to the factors. As a result Semi-structured interview was taken from residents with mentality close to the mentality of the sample society, and at the end several factors and sub-factors is indicated and some of the design strategies listed below:
1- Overlook: creating social open spaces so that residential units can have overlook (view) on them. 2- Appropriateness and coordination between the unit plans and open spaces: special orientation of the kitchen provides views of each of the social and neighborhood open spaces. 3- Hierarchy: creating gradual communication and interaction between open public spaces and private units (creating small neighborhood unit, creating bigger neighborhood unit, creating social open space and at last religious, social and economical center) 4- Delimitation: Separating the business and sports sections, which have over districts role. 5- Social, religious, economic center: Placement of mosque and small business units as the social, religious and economic center, in the heart of the residential complex. 6- Creating a sense of safety and territory in order to reduce the traffic of strangers in the residential complex by using linear forms. 7- Using of dynamic forms for residential open spaces to increase the scenes of vitality and happiness.
