A dry port is an inland intermodal terminal directly connected by road or rail to a seaport and operating as a center for the transshipment of sea cargo to inland destinations. A dry inland port can speed the flow of cargo between ships and major land transportation networks, creating a more central distribution point. Inland ports can improve the movement of imports and exports, moving the time-consuming sorting and processing of containers inland, away from congested seaports. Due to the fact that so far there is not available dry port within Iran and because of Yazd is the gravity point of communication, the dry port company has been established in Yazd province with the aim of creating a hinterland combined terminal. In order to focus on value activities and having more efficient operations need to identify value chain of dry ports. In this study, operational processes of dry ports have been generalized to Porter's value chain model and a suitable model is offered for displaying the value chain of dry ports. Also, the main value activities and the most important dry port bottlenecks are identified with use of questionnaire and statistical analysis. Finally, appropriateness of model for Dry Port Pishgaman Company evaluated and was approved.
