Abstract:
One of the most important elements in public transport systems is air-conditioning. There have been many researches for improving the operation and efficiency of AC systems, especially in trains. An important phenomenon which affects the indoor air in a train and its AC operation is the airflow inside the train, generated by train acceleration; this happens by Couette flow. Today there is a more tendency to manufacture vestibule trains where this phenomenon happens widely. A lack of academic researches has been seen in this domain. This dissertation finds a mathematical modeling and solution for this airflow. A complete Field measurement has been done and the output of both mathematical and practical results was compared to show the relativity of the modeling. Finally the effects of this airflow on air-conditioning systems had discussed to depict the volume of energy loss, Depreciation of AC parts, etc.
