Abstract
Today, given the significant increase in the volume of information available in different businesses, information analysis and interpretation have become considerably more important than ever before. Information visualization is one of the new methods used for information analysis and simplification. This method results in a faster and better understanding of the available data and more effective- decision-makings. Different visualization methods with their distinct features can influence the decision-making process and facilitate it for managers. Currently, business intelligence (BI) is used by a wide range of organization as an effective and practical tool. In a BI system, making decisions based on the collected and analyzed information is quite vital.
The research population consisted of managers of all online stores in Tehran. The sample size was 378. In the process of research, a literature review was conducted and all the visualization factors influencing managers’ decision-makings in BI systems were identified. Next, the final available factors were determined and used to formulate relevant questions addressed to the sample through a questionnaire. After the data collection process was completed, Lisrel was used to test the model based on the structural equations. The impact of all eight dimensions of visualization on decision-making in BI systems was confirmed. Finally, these factors were ranked based on their significance in order to identify the most significant factor affecting the use of information visualization tools. Subsequently, an existing system was evaluated based on the developed model.
