Fresh water crisis in many parts of the world there. already, in our country due to arid and semiarid climate, this is a serious crisis. Also, population growth and increasing per capita consumption of water and food followed over the last decade, puts more pressure on freshwater resources are limited. Due to a shortage of fresh water in the world, food poverty is now widely in the future will be faced by many countries, including our country. Including ways in which this global problem facing the experts were, desalination of saline water using desalination systems for use in drinking, agriculture and industry. In this study, the economic feasibility of a desalination system for use in agricultural production Makran region and the country's central plateau has been made. This study, using cost – benefit analysis and use of Camfar software, with an emphasis on the criteria of net present value, internal rate of return, payback period is normal and moving done. It also uses sensitivity analysis to determine the effects of various factors such as cost and profitability of the main indicators of research has been addressed. At the end of the study, the results of the economic evaluation of scenarios designed show that pistachio with osmotic desalination brackish water with internal rate of return 50% and Portugal with the same conditions and internal rate of return 78% are the most effective. Wheat with internal rate of return 13% is not economically feasible to produce. The use of solar desalination systems for crop production is not economically with current conditions. The results of the sensitivity analysis shows that the decline in fixed capital costs and operating costs and increasing revenue, will increase the profitability of the project.
