Iran has long coastlines in the north and south, these coastlines are important from economic, political, social and even military perspective. Therefore, improvement and growth of ports and pier is one of the main goals of Country Development Strategy. Among coastal structures, Piers have special position because of their many applications and pier pile is the most used types of them. According to the strategic role of ports in transportation, passive defense will be important. So far, most research has been done on pile group under static and seism loading using numerical modeling and validation of software is main problem of this method.
Therefore, in current research, a centrifuge test is performed to study effect of explosion loading on the performance of batter piles in a pile group and bending moment in the height of the piles and acceleration on the pile cap are measured. The results are indicated contradictory performance of the batter piles in the pile group. From one side more bending moment is created in the batter piles and in the other hand its displacement is less than vertical piles. In order to study the effects of weight and distance of explosive material more precisely, a three-dimensional nonlinear finite element model method is simulated. The validity of the numerical simulation is conducted by comparing results of the centrifuge test.
