In this research, we tried to take more steps closer to the real situation by considering the effect of isolating the high-rise structures in limiting condition with the actual model of the existing high-rise structure, the comparison between the current and the fix-based structure in the isolated conditions and the examination of its effects.
For this purpose, a 30-story building (25 floors on the ground and 5 floors under ground) has been constructed of a Steel structure for housing co-operation of employees of the Municipality of District 3 in Vardavard, using Triple friction pendulum bearings with limited displacement. The above isolators were located at a level of 0.65+ from the ground and on the shear wall of the perimeter. Considering the rigid diaphragm on the isolator, its structural parameters were examined. Components such as displacement, base shear, displacement of the roof, and the displacement of the rigid diaphragm on the isolator in fixed-based and isolated base conditions by applying 11 different pairs of ground motions with the variety in origin, mechanism, intensity and duration of far field earthquakes, used for analysis. The modeling is performed in accordance with the model of the main structure in the Sap 2000 V19.0 environment, which is designed in accordance with the ASCE 41-13, and in particular the triple friction pendulum bearing element is defined.
Considering this situation, the period of the system is usually considerably longer than the period of Superstructure, and this feature has the advantage of isolating the short and medium structures to increase their period due to the softening of these structures against the earthquake, the question is, What happens to these systems in high-rise structures, which often have a High-value period? Will its advantages outweigh its disadvantages?
The above-mentioned responses were examined, in which most of them experienced better conditions than the existing structure, which was beneficial, regardless of the economic justification of this work and attention to the value of the life safety and the structure.
