چكيده در دنياي صنعتي امروز كه قبل از هر چيز فن و تكنولوژي حرف اول را مي زند و كمبود زمان و نياز بيصبرانه در سرعت بخشيدن به كارها بر هيچ كس پوشيده نيست، توسعه و پيشرفت انتقال اطلاعات عصر امروز را به عصر ارتباطات موسوم كرده است، پس بايد پذيرفت كه نياز به سرعت بالا بيش از هر چيز ميتواند مهم و قابل بحث باشد . افراد و اشياء در مقوله نقل و انتقالات توجه به هواپيما به عنوان سريعترين وسيله اين امر در جهان امروز ما را به فضاي دسترسي به هواپيما يعني فرودگاه هدايت كرد. فرودگاه صرفنظر از مسئله نياز و بازدهي اقتصادي بالا از جمله بناهايي است كه مي تواند بستر مناسبي جهت عرضه محصولات فرهنگي يك جامعه از يك سو و از سوي ديگر و عرض اندام مناسبي جهت مطرح نمودن ميزان پيشرفت هاي فن و هنر چه در عرصه معماري و ساختمان و چه در عرصه صنايع ديگر به خصوص صنايع پرواز، صنايع الكترونيكي و مخابراتي كه خود نشانه و نمادي در دنياي امروز جهان است باشد. انتخاب فرودگاه به عنوان دروازه ورود و خروج اصلي شهرهاي امروز بدان جهت كه مسير حركت فرهنگهاي بيگانه را بيشتر از ساير فضاهاي اين عملكردي، تحت الشعاع خود قرار مي دهد، ادعايي قابل عرضه و دفاع است و بايد پذيرفت اين فضا صرفنظر از ابعاد عملكردي خود، بستر مناسبي جهت ايجاد يك فضاي ماندگار ذهني و خاطره بخش مؤيد و محافظ فرهنگ و تمدن يك شهر و كشور مي باشد.از اين رو در اين رساله علاوه بر طراحي طرح توسعه فرودگاه شهيد اشرفي كرمانشاه،بر رويكرد استفاده از نور روز در فضاهاي انتظار مسافرين هم تاكيد شده است. كلمات كليدي: پايانه فرودگاهي، پايداري، نور روز
