Abstract
Pedestrian walkways are used for the conversion of settlement spaces to enjoyable and safe places to walk. Walking is considered as one of the main models of displacement inside living canons because of its low cost, accessibilities, and independence to a special element. In the conversion of streets into pedestrian walkways, different projects are internationally defined; a large part of those projects have been conducted successfully and resulted in the revival of urban spaces as well as socioeconomic life. Sometimes, some projects have failed because of inaccurately zoning, planning, or designing and the streets have returned to its previous state. In new cities, pedestrian walkways , as urban spaces, cause the vitality and increase in the sociopetal nature. In addition, in case that zoning and designing are conducted appropriately, they act as identity elements. In the present thesis, after reviewing the literature related to the subject and investigating executive samples of domestic and foreign pedestrian walkways, criteria at two sections of feasibility and deign were extracted. Then, by selecting Shahin Shahr City in Isfahan Province as a new city, the conducted studies were explained. In the feasibility study section, by investigating streets of the city, 6 streets out of 65 streets in the city were selected using the Guler Matrix Method and using the TOPSIS and in the framework of feasibility study criteria, Ferdowsi Street was selected for being converted into a pedestrian walkways. In the design section, the quality of sociopetal nature was investigated using the presence theory and investigating texts and case studies. Three methods were applied to identifying the mentioned street: the expert method conducted by the researcher, the participatory method done by interviewing users of the space in different fields, and the use of factor analysis and completion of 300 questionnaires. The results of those identifications was localization of global criteria for the study street. Finally, after doing the priority action regression for each criterion and indicator, the urban design framework and guide of the presentable Ferdowsi Pedestrian walkways of Shahin Shahr was presented.
