Reliability is defined as the resistance of a device or system against failure during its useful lifetime. It is also described as the ability of a system to fulfill its required tasks under determined conditions in a specific period of time. In recent years, reliability optimization has been highlighted in developed industries and has promoted the product quality of these industries. However, reliability optimization in construction industry has received less attention, thus lacking its optimum values in this important industry. Therefore, the present research has been conducted aiming at simultaneously optimizing cost and reliability in construction industry. To do so, a model was first selected to simultaneously optimize cost and reliability, and a model was developed for the relation between reliability and structural mass. Afterwards, 5 plans were taken from construction experts for the studied building in Lavasan Region of Tehran, and the quantity surveying and estimating of the plans were performed. Then, reliability was calculated through the obtained equations for the two plans which had observed the budget ceiling. Both mentioned plans were simulated by ETABS Software, and the results of the two methods (simulation by ETABS and mathematical modeling) were compared. The results showed that the selected plan, obtained from both methods, for simultaneous optimization of reliability and cost is the same, and this confirms the accuracy of the obtained equations. The equations were modelled by GAMS Software.
