In recent years, IOT has become one of the hot discussions in technology. It has been the center of many discussions in the past few years though the topic was suggested long before that. Surveillance essence of this technology and the immediate need to perceive surroundings, demonstrates the necessity of intelligent sensors to achieve its operationality and feasibility. Wireless sensor nodes are one of the most common sensors which the set of them form a wireless sensor network. These nodes have the ability of sensing, processing and data exchange. The amount of available power could limit the processing speed, number of parameters that could be sensed and data exchange rate. Hence, the upcoming research tries to remove the obstacles regarding this issue and lay the groundwork to develop its capability and facilities. In fact, the main focus is on charging the sensor nodes with wireless technology so that no battery replacement would be needed.
The basis of this approach is wireless power transmission technology. By using electromagnetic waves in this technology for power transmission, we use an approach called time reversal, to improve power transmission efficiency and decrease the power dissipation of wave propagation, because the power attenuation of magnetic waves in the intermediate environment is notable and conventional method of wave transmission with continuous signals would not deliver sufficient amount of power and makes the wireless power transmission technique inefficient for this application.
With respect to different parameters involved in power transmission process and considering different scenarios, the process of charging the sensor nodes have been simulated with MATLAB and at the end, the results have been discussed. Analysis of obtained results, suggest that the devised approach proves to be an efficient one and is a promising way to resolve the power limitation of sensor nodes.
