In this study, optimal designs using the VPS and ECBO algorithms are presented for reinforced concrete spread footings and two-dimensional reinforced concrete frames. These designs are based on the criteria of the ACI 318, and considering objective functions reduce cost and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Design variables include the geometric dimensions of the sections, the bar number and number of bars and the compressive strength of the concrete. The proposed method uses from the predetermined data bases. Finally, during the process of the algorithm, the best designs are identified and presented in graphs and tables and compared with the results of other researchers.
The results indicate that the VPS and ECBO algorithms acts as a powerful and efficient algorithms and use them for larger and more complex problem.
