To support urban lifestyles, modern cities need amenities such as waste incinerators, prisons, and airports. To meet the needs of these land uses, may gradually cause problems in the urban district which need organizing. For example, airports in the beginning were located outside the city as isolated land use, but gradually and with the developing of cities, they are observed as a within context phenomenon. Local neighbors and environmentalists usually oppose these airports mainly because of extensive noise pollution and emissions. In the other hand, the inner-City Airports are interesting to the passengers and authorities of aviation because of their convenient access to the urban centers. As a consequence, local authorities are confronted with two conflicting interests, emphasizing the role of downtown airports as a location factor to attract businesses on the one hand and the necessity of protecting local residents’ living quality on the other. According to this ignored aspect, the main research question is to find out the typology of the main approaches in dealing with issues arising from activities of inner-City Airports. What are the features of these approaches? The answer to the research question is based on qualitative method and analytical-comparative nature. By examining and reviewing international experiences, approaches to deal with the problems of inner-city airports are conceptualized. The results show that these approaches are classified into three categories: transference (conflict), reduction (interaction) and continuity (co-existence). The case of study is the inner-City airport of Mehrabad and its periphery urban area, which is located in the south west of Tehran. Recognizing the issues arising from Mehrabad activity on the Urban peripheral area, the appropriate approach for organizing will be provided.
