Abstract:
An efficient, metal-free and green method has been developed for a one-pot, pseudo four-component synthesis of spiro[diindeno[1,2-b: 2′,1′-e]pyridine-11,3′-indoline]-2′,10,12-trione derivatives in the presence of nano-ordered MCM-41 anchored sulfonic acid (MCM-41-SO3H) as a heterogeneous catalyst. The methodology because of its short reaction time, good to excellent product yields, easy work-up procedures, easy recovery and reusability of the catalyst and non- chromatographic purification procedure without any toxic byproducts is advantageous. Since indole and indenone fused motifs have a wide spectrum of biological activities, the red color product of this protocol is expected to find application in the combinatorial synthesis of biologically active compounds.
