Abstract:
An increase in the ageing population of the world is an irrefutable fact that will involve developing countries such as Iran, more than developed countries. At present, about two-thirds of the world's elderly population lives in developing countries, but it is expected to have the world's highest population ageing in the near future. Elderly people are having trouble dealing with new technologies in everyday life.
The purpose of this study is to simplify and adapt television remote control to the needs of the elderly so that it is easy to reduce the complexity and unnecessary the perception and use of the product.
In this study, in addition to library studies and collecting the necessary scientific information in this field, field studies were conducted using a questionnaire to examine the problems of the elderly in relation to television remote control.
The prevailing approach to this research is an interactive approach. Throughout this research, we have tried to provide a meaningful and continuous engagement to reach more accurate and useful results for the elderly. At the beginning of the project, we interviewed 15 elderly people over 65 years old to complete the design and manufacturing phase of the replication. Next, we prepared a replica of the elderly's talk for the interview.
From the results of the interviews, the QFD method identified the most important demands of the elderly and was designed according to them. Finally, with the AHP method, two top designs were selected and their replica was prepared for usability testing. This test was taken from 10 elderly people over 65 years of age.
