Membrane desalination technologies are an efficient means of saving energy used in water treatment, in order to provide drinking water around the world. Due to graphene's unique properties, the use of graphene and its derivatives such as graphene oxide (GO) in separation processes is increasing dramatically. Recently, graphene oxide has been introduced as a new material for membranes used in high performance separation processes. This topic has attracted a lot of attention as a new research field. In this study, graphene oxide membrane was prepared by vacuum filtration and cross linked with polyethylene amine. Crosslinking with polyethylene amine significantly improves membrane stability, so that, after placing the graphene oxide membrane and the crosslinked membrane for 1.5 hours in the ultrasonic bath, the graphene oxide membrane is initially separated from the support membrane whereas, the crosslinked membrane also remained the same. Thus, salt rejection has increased in crosslinked membrane. Salt rejetion was obtained 38% and 48%, for the graphene oxide membrane without cross linking and for the cross linked graphene membrane with polyethylene amine, respectively.
