Risk management is one of the phases project management and it is important to be undeniable due to the uncertain nature of the projects and the necessity to spend their optimal resources. One of the major projects that we face in the Ferroalloy Industry is the overhaul project. Major repairs are a very sensitive part of maintenance. identification and prioritization of risks due to the existence of a project is an important issue in risk management that is needed to manage risk successfully. In this research, it has been tried to apply to the risk assessment of the overhaul of the Ferroalloy industry.
In this research, data were collected using a literature review and previous documentation, interviewing the experts and designing a questionnaire and distributing it among the experts involved in the major repairs project of Ferrosilicon Company of Iran. The result of this study led to the identification and evaluation of forty risks in ten categories of political, economic, market and customer risks, contractor, management, project management, technology-machinery-equipment, quality-technical and environmental-health-safety.
In order to increase the ranking accuracy in this study, the probability of occurrence, the effect of project objectives (time, cost, and quality), risk detection capability and risk management were used. Finally, ranking the risks using The TOPSIS approach was carried out and its results were made available to industry managers to take preventive measures in line with priority risks. Based on the prioritization, the risk of material sanctions from the sub-set of political risks in the top of the ranking of risks, rising inflation and economic instability from the sub-set of economic risks in the second-place ranking and failure to provide Goods and spare parts of the machinery and equipment technology risks category ranked third.
