Abstract
Population increase, urban development and need to create centralized spaces of
office, commercial and residential in order to abetment of the horizontal expansion
of cities, has necessitated the construction of high-rise buildings more than before.
High-rise buildings due to high altitude, the importance of performance and
complexity in construction, are considered more than other buildings and makes
them tyupical in the city level till global level. Also, the influence of structural factors,
construction systems and other factors such as installation, urban design, economics,
politics and etc , are more important than small and commonplace buildings. In this
regard, the basic structural issues, particularly stability against lateral forces such as
wind and earthquake, architectural and construction issues, especially vertical
communications and transportation, impose more requirements on the design of
high-rise buildings. Therefore, the architect in tall buildings design and in order to
achieve a successful and less flawed design, first of all, requires a lot of knowledge
about the structure and other issues that related to the installation, urbanization,
construction, economy, value engineering and etc , in tall buildings field. One of the
newest high-rise building systems is diametrical mesh or diagrid system. Diagrid
structures are a kind of tubular systems. Nowadays, the time factor in constructing
structures has become more and more important, and this has led to a tendency
towards prefabricated structures. Also, the increase in human populations and the
development of societies has made it far more necessary to have large spaces
without intermediate pillars. In this regard, in the current century, a number of
architects and engineers have used the unique capabilities of Diagrid structures, and
the emergence of new aesthetics based on the performance of the instrumentation
has led to the formation of this type of system. Removal of conventional columns in
the facade and bearing the role of beams and columns of common structures
simultaneously by diagonal elements, increasing the flexural and shear strength of
the cross section, reducing structural deformations, 3D structure performance, high
resistance to lateral forces, continuity of the path of conduction forces, Adherence to
the form of the geometry of the structure and the possibility of designing a free and
unplugged plan in the classes is one of the most important features of this structure .
The common materials used in the construction of diagrid is steel, concrete and wood.
