Choosing a battery type is important because battery prices have a major share of the overall price of an electric motorcycle and, by adjusting the price of the battery, can greatly improve the attractiveness of the electric motorcycle market. In this paper, a systematic method for optimal select the type of battery used in an electric motorcycle commensurate with its driving cycle with Simulink software is introduced. In this approach, besides the functional characteristics of the battery such as nominal voltage, capacity and internal resistance, the characteristics of the weight, life and price of any type of battery and driving cycle, which is effective in choosing the type of battery, is considered. In this method, first, motorcycle dynamics is modeled in software, then motorcycle powertrain include an electric motor, a power transmission system, and three types of used batteries, designed in accordance with basic design rules such as sloping, acceleration and maximum speed. By doing the work that said, it became clear that, as it is shown in the tables, in the WMTC driving cycle, the lithium cobalt acid battery performs better than that of a lithium-nickel oxide battery with the same capacity, in contrast to the FHB-peripherie driving cycle.
One of the most important other criteria for choosing a battery is its pricing. So if prices are checked, lithium-nickel oxide battery performs better. So, between the three batteries examined, the lithium battery with the nickel cathode base is the perfect choice for electric motorcycle.
