In recent decades, the researchers have modified the aggregate stone mastic asphalt (SMA) by changing the granulation structure. In Iran, stone mastic asphalt has been used in a few projects, and it is expected that in the following years, due to the performance of this type of blend, it is expected to increase. increasing traffic in heavy loads and climatic variation has led to distress such as moisture sensitive, rutting, fatigue and etc. in asphalt pavements, which has increased the cost of road maintenance. Therefore, the improvement of bitumen properties and asphalt mixtures has become inevitable. Nano- Zycotherm, as one of the most widely used anti-stripping and Evonik additives as a new additive, improves the strength of the asphalt mix against moisture. Therefore, the main objective of this experimental study is to investigate the effect of Zycotherm and Evonik bituminous additive on the functional properties of SMA asphalt. In this study, silica and calcium aggregates, 60/70 bitumen, two additive evonik Dgosa (TEGO Addibit L300) at 0.15%, 0.25%, and 35.5%, and zycotherm at 0.05%, 0.1% and 0.15% by weight of bitumen have been used. FTIR tests on bitumen and Resilient Modulus, Indirect stretch, boiling water and dynamic creep on asphalt samples to control moisture sensitivity and rutting potential. The results of the experiments show that evonik anti-stripping materials up to 21% and Zycotherm up to 31% improve the performance of the SMA asphalt mix against moisture. Also, in analyzing and comparing these two materials, we conclude that the effect of Nano- Zycotherm on the improvement of moisture and performance properties of the mixture is more favorable than the evonik additive.
