Food waste is a major part of household waste, accounting for about 50-60% of the waste composition in the country. For example, in Tehran, the main process in municipal waste management for this part is composting or transfering to the landfill site, which due to the spatial, technological, no source separation, high environmental and economic costs of landfilling are not currently ideal processes. One of the most innovative methods for processing organic waste is grinding food waste by food waste disposers and transferring it through sewage system into a wastewater treatment plant. Considering the importance of the effects of final organic loading in the treatment plant due to the use of this technology and the lack of information and research in the country, in this study the chemical and physical parameters of the produced slurry has been examined. In this study, first of all a source of waste was collected as a sample, afterwards grinded food waste slurry was tested for physical, chemical and biological characteristics. The data were then compared with inflow characteristics of wastewater plant. According to the results of the experiments, the use of food waste disposers will have limited effects on the sewage collection and treatment system, while also providing many environmental and municipal benefits.
