A porous metal–organic framework Ni2(BDC)2(DABCO); H2BDC (H2BDC = 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid), DABCO (DABCO = 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane, was synthesized and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), nitrogen physisorption measurements (BET). The Ni2(BDC)2(DABCO) could be used as efficient fluorescent sensing. Here, we report the exploration of fluorescent of Ni2(BDC)2(DABCO) , To the best of our knowledge have been realized for fast-response and good sensitive sensing probe for detection of Fe3+ and fluorescence quenching of Fe3+ has outstanding fluorescent quenching specificity for Fe3+ ions, and shows fast identification of Fe3+ ion with a response time of <1 min and detection limit of 2.5 µM. The presence of other ions such as 250 μM As3+, Al3+, Zn2+, Cu2+ , Ni2+, Co3+, Mn2+ , Pb2+ and Cd2+ had no significant effect on detection of Fe3+ ion.
