Abstract:
This research consists of two main parts. In the first part, the design and construction of all parts of an atmospheric pressure plasma jet system including jet plasma nozzle parts, high voltage direct current and alternative current power supply and measuring instruments for recording of electrical characteristics of the plasma. In the second part, it is necessary to identify type of species present in the plasma jet flame, with the characterization of the spectrophotometry (Uv-Vis) in order to identify the species in the plasma jet flame. The electrical characteristics of the plasma include the voltage and current waveforms for determining the optimal state of plasma jet operation. One of the objectives of this study is production of plasma jet with ambient air and no need to use gas cylinders. A study and comparison of the performance, two direct current power supplies with a power of 228 watts and a sine wave power supply with a rated power of 360 watts in the frequency ranging from 8 to 24 kHz, and effect of the voltage, current, frequency, and air flow rate on the plasma formation parameters Includes the length and temperature of the plasma jet flame, investigated. Imaging was performed from all conditions of the plasma flame. It was also observed that, by increasing inlet air flow rate, the gas temperature of the plasma decreases and by exceeding gas flow rate from 3 liters per minute, the flame length of plasma decreases, and the plasma length increases with increasing of voltage and current.
