Abstract:
all structures during their life experience various circumstances, which may lead to numerous
damages under these situations. Hence, the investigation of damage in structures has been a
very important exploration subject in recent years. This study presents a new and efficient
damage detection method for civil structures. The purpose of this study was to determine the
location and severity of damage using model updating methods. In this research, by citing the
effects of structural damage on dynamic parameter such as mode shapes and modal strain
energy and combination of them in a cost function and using a new optimization-algorithm
which is called SCA, tried to determine the location and severity of damage in different
structures. in fact, to identify damage localization and quantification, the proposed method is
defining damage detection problem as an inverse problem. It is shown that this method is a
useful model for Identification of damage in structures. In the optimization algorithm of the
main topic, the use of an appropriate target function is needed to better and faster convergence
of the answer. Also, the noise in input data is also a serious challenge to this discussion. To
minimize the problem, as well as better convergence. Finally, the proposed method of
numerical examples and numerical modeling by finite element method will be used to illustrate
the efficiency of the proposed method.
