Population growth, especially urban population, and excessive use of water resources in the arid region of Iran are causing increasing problems in water supply. In the face of environmental challenges, efforts to supply energy, water, and materials to buildings and habitats have become a widespread research approach. Today, research is being done around the world on the issue of self-sufficiency in various fields. In the field of architecture, every effort is made to design and execute buildings that are self-sufficient. The need for self-sufficiency is tangible and obvious due to the enormous problems that consumerism is facing, as well as the scarcity of energy resources, fresh water resources, and so on. Self-sufficiency has many components. In today's architecture, there are no effective measures in all kinds of applications, especially scientific-research applications, in saving resources and optimizing their use and increasing the self-sufficiency of architectural collections.
In research and planning of research and scientific centers, it is necessary to develop appropriate strategies to increase self-sufficiency in different aspects such as energy, water, and so on. The purpose of this study is to provide appropriate architectural and technical solutions and increase their effectiveness in self-sufficiency of research collections in terms of water consumption.
The question we face in this research is how can we find the optimal principles and strategies for collecting, maintaining and consuming water and calculating self-sufficiency in research groups in Tehran climate?
Research Method In this study is a mixed method. At first, by selecting case studies and case studies on water management issues, necessary research was done and then based on extraction of annual rainfall statistics and calculation of water consumption in different parts of the research, the question was answered by logical analysis and mathematical calculations. . According to the research findings, by using active and passive water management solutions in buildings and scientific and research sites more than 50% of these buildings are self-sufficient in terms of water management
