In order to provide a safe and reliable route for locomotive trainers, it is necessary to think carefully in order to provide the user with a comfortable service during long journeys. The train management suite belongs to a locomotive system, and at a later stage it involves all command and control units of trains. The locomotive, as the fatal of a train, plays a pivotal role. The system has several thousand pieces, mainly in its propulsion sector. But all of these are based on proper train guidance. The cockpit of the locomotive includes equipment and implements that allow the control of the train by the driver.
For many years, General Motors locomotives have been linked to the integral part of Iran's rail transport industry, due to the high capabilities of these locomotives and their low depreciation. But after more than half a century of starting their work in the country, many of these locomotives have been worn out. And some need rebellion. In this project, the interior design of the cabin was considered in order to overcome the defects of the cabin of the locomotive.
In order to achieve the result, three principles of increasing accuracy, safety and comfort were defined as the basis of the project, and in order to obtain sufficient information, library information was first gathered with the user interface with the cabin of the locomotive. Due to the wide range of work on the locomotive cabin, it was decided to collect the problems of this section of the train to provide suggestions for repair and also design a cabin on the scale of computer modeling and focus on the main challenge in the cabin of the locomotive Ie the steering wheel seat of the train. Like many vehicles, the steering wheel is a key point in its relationship to the surrounding environment while doing work, but by examining the current chairs that have been around for the past fifty years, it has become clear that designing a chair with the ergonomic indispensability Is. For this reason and due to the enormous involvement of the user with this product, user-oriented design methodology was chosen as the basic method for project advancement. In the framework of user-oriented methodology and further library studies on the physiology of the user's body when stationed at the workstation, field studies were also carried out at the premises of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways and interviewed by train drivers. Then, a list of user problems was collected and based on the first design cycle. In the next step, in the second cycle of user-oriented design, the initial design was provided to the users and again, these bugs and suggestions were extracted. In the meantime, the researcher was associated with a permanent locomotive engineer and examined every step of the design. At the end of the second cycle of user-oriented design, the final design was prepared using 3D modeling software, and then it was produced at a specialized chair manufacturing workshop.
In this study, a subsidiary method called Sensor Design also was used to assess the total amount of user's senses in relation to the time spent in the cabin, as well as the experience of using the cabin of the locomotive.
