The issue of energy has become so important now that it is also called the century of the energy war. In addition, issues such as the revival of the environment and the new attitude of politicians and scientists to the issue have prompted mankind to take advantage of renewable energy and energy recovery from sites where energy can be recovered as much as possible. Due to the high consumption of natural gas in our country, one of the places where we can think of energy recovery is gas pressure reducing stations (CGS). In this research, an attempt has been made to introduce a variety of expansion machines in a CGS, in addition to examining the structure of the station, and, if one wishes to use an expansion machine at this station, a technical and economic analysis and comparison of screw expander and the turboexpander. Finally, in this study, we have concluded that if we intend to recovery energy in CGS from this replacement, it would be better to use a screw-expansion machine with respect to Iran's ecosystem and at least to 5 MW expansion plants. Also economically viable if the capital cost of installing all devices designed for this purpose is less than 1919 $/kW, though it is economically feasible, although the expense of the expanding power plant is better than any other method of generating electricity anyway.
