Hazard and crises have always been considered as repeatable phenomena in human life, and they are considered as a challenge for sustainable development in human societies. Therefore, it is necessary to deal with new approaches to crisis. Today, resilience is an important approach for strengthening communities using their capacity and definitions, approaches and indicators have been formed in this field. Urban communities are seeking to achieve some conditions in order to reduce the damage to some extent. In this way, the concept of resilient urban design with regard to cities as a complex and dependent systems, in order to reduce the amount of vulnerability and increase the flexibility of the physical environment of cities against the stress caused by disasters and minimizing the time of rehabilitation, also improvement of life level of people and generally resilience of cities is considered. Social resiliency as a one of the dimensions of resilience urban communities is defined, adaptation and flexibility of individuals and social groups with environmental changes. Therefore, the urban is composed of stable networks of physical and social system, and by considering that the physical environment is considered as spatial extension of social events, the quality of urban environment is very influential in increasing the sense of place of citizens. Thus considering social issues and weaknesses in the physical system, it is necessary to pay attention to the physical structure of place to increase the sense of belonging to the neighborhood.
The main objective of this research is to identify criteria and indicators affecting the social dimension of community resilience. In this way, by using documentary and library method, the related resources have been reviewed to identify the main criteria and indicators of social resiliency, and by using the deductive method the conceptual model of social resilience has been developed, in the following by choosing the neighborhood of khazaneh bokharaei as the study area and evaluation of extracted indexes by conducting semi-structured interviews and with inductive content analysis, factors related to urban design in order to improve social resiliency have been achieved.
Finally, by taking advantage of the common aspects of the criteria and the social and physical indexes extracted from theoretical texts and the studied samples, the most important components of the physical design of the neighborhoods in order to improve their social resilience have been considered in the design of the class. The results show that paying attention to principles such as improving the quality of environment and public spaces, flexibility, accessibility, educational and leisure spaces social interaction, natural structure of the neighborhood, safety and security in design neighborhoods will promote social resilience.
