Human health is one of the main subcategories of the social dimension of sustainable development, and sustainable architecture, as meeting the goals of sustainable development in architecture, has a duty to be in harmony with human health and to contribute to the substantiation of "wellbeing" in individuals. In a comprehensive view of human health, which is scientifically defined by the concept of "holistic health", wellbeing means an inclusive health in which all physical, mental and psychological factors related to the illness are taken into account simultaneously and it is believed that a component can never be cured as long as the living entity is not healed. An architecture that seeks to provide the basis for this approach to health must inevitably have this holistic ideology and be able to interact with its audience and environment comprehensively.
In this thesis, we are designing an all-inclusive health center that is "healing" and contributes to the healing process of individuals. According to the above explanations, our approach to design will be sustainable and holistic. The question we are beginning to face is what are the practical ways to promote holistic health and create a healthy environment in architecture? According to the definition, holistic health means the simultaneous health of the body, mind and spirit, and thus practical architectural solutions can be categorized into these three areas. In Chapter One, we first prove that the built environment can affect these three dimensions of health, and this effect has sometimes been negative. Then, by reviewing literature and research results, we present solutions to resolve these negative effects in the 3 areas of body, mind, and spirit. It is noteworthy that most studies have focused on physical health in architecture and less on the other two areas, these shortcomings, despite the importance of the subject, encouraged us to conduct research on the impact of architecture on mental health. Chapter 2 deals with this subject. In these two studies, architectural approaches to promoting mood and helping to relieve depression (which is the most common psychological problem in our country) are extracted from a qualitative study. Solutions can also be found through this research and can be integrated with the strategies obtained from library research. These solutions are summarized as the result of these two chapters. Some solutions to be mentioned are: Choosing a healthy site, using natural, healthy and voc free materials, catching daylight, interacting with nature, choosing healthy and sustainable mechanical installations, controllable conditions, providing adequate social support and privacy, reducing noise and population, diversity in form, space and color and etc. Then, using these solutions, we design a holistic health center in Tehran. Before designing, it is necessary to analyze the environmental and social context of the project, as many important design strategies can be achieved from this area.
