The minimum distance between the entry and exit legs highways for weaving segment Interference areas between freeway entrances and exits have always been considered by transport and traffic experts from both safety and traffic perspectives. In Iran, unfortunately, arterial routes with freeway performance are not called highways, while they have physical, geometric, functional and other freeway characteristics. However, if the traffic volume of the interference areas is significant, the large volume of vehicles and their interference with each other will lead to traffic congestion. Therefore, the most important parameter that determines the capacity and safety of interference areas is the length of the interference area. But what needs to be kept in mind is that it is often not possible to provide the minimum length of the interference zone, especially in urban areas, due to existing physical constraints. In Shahid Hemmat freeway, every day from 7 to 10 in the morning and also from 15 to 9 in the evening, due to severe traffic jams, millions of tomans of the country's capital are wasted on fuel due to the cessation of vehicles; This is in addition to the financial cost to consumers. In this study, due to the removal of traffic volumes passing through this freeway, traffic simulation was performed using Imisan software so that the minimum optimal length for the interference areas could be determined according to the traffic parameters such as delay, density and capacity. . Therefore, by varying the length of the traffic interference zones between 100, 200, 400 and 600 meters, the effect of each of these lengths on the traffic parameters was determined and the minimum optimal length for the traffic interference areas was determined. The minimum length of the interference area is 457 meters according to the standards. Therefore, the results showed that with the length of the interference zone, it affects the unsaturated and saturated currents. Also, as the length of the interference area increases under any circumstances, the density first decreases and then increases. The lowest density is related to the interference zone with a length of 200 and 400 meters and the highest density is related to the interference area with a length of 100 and 600 meters.
