In the contemporary era, football stadiums are among the most popular places in countries and due to this fact, they are considered as a symbol of development and progress. Investing in this sector, not only helps to improve the infrastructures of cities, but it is a great platform for them to present its attractions to the whole world and after a while it helps them to be thrived.
City of Karaj, due to its neighboring with the capital city of Tehran, has a great potential for developing and prospering. However, this city does not have a standard football stadium. The current stadium is far from FIFA standards and its capacity is not acceptable for this big city. So, the main goal of this project is bringing the current stadium to FIFA standards and increasing its capacity. In order to reach this goal two main approaches can be utilized; either construct a new stadium based on FIFA standards or renew the current stadium and design a roof for it. In this case, due to the current stadium condition and economic issues, second approach is found more appropriate than constructing a new stadium.
In this project, design and simulation commences after examining the stadium features and standards in addition of case studies. The focus of design has to be on stadium roof which has a direct impact not only on spectators’ thermal comfort, but also it impacts the football pitch air flow. At the end, the structure of the proposed stadium as well as the environmental conditions like spectators’ thermal comfort have been evaluated carefully.
