The rapid growth of urban populations and, consequently, the expansion of cities to suburban areas has led to an increase in the length of commutes and an increase in the number of such trips. Therefore, safety and the reduction of accidents at the entrances of cities are considered essential. Among the various transportation systems, transport by passenger cars has a significant role in commuting between the suburbs and the city centre. On the other hand, the existence of risk factors at the entrance of cities will lead to an increase in accidents and inefficiency in this mode of transportation. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to study the independent variables influencing the severity of accidents (property damage, injury and fatal) at the entrance of the city and identifying the factors affecting this type of accidents. For this purpose, the data of accidents in the years 2015-2017 are analysed by Friedman statistical analysis, and factor analysis, and the ranking and the factors influencing the severity of traffic accidents are determined. Also, in this study, modelling the severity of accidents using effective variables such as age, gender, vehicle type, road surface conditions, weather conditions, major cause, type of collision, etc. is done. Finally, a comparison between the results of this research and the results of other researches in this area is made, and some suggestions are offered.
