Today, the human need to be present in the community and to establish reasonable, logical and conventional interaction with different types and groups of society has been accepted. But the public arenas of today's cities seem to have left unanswered the need for human beings to be together. In fact, the process of gendering urban public areas has made it possible to turn these areas into inefficient platforms. Today's urban design, contrary to yesterday's superficial and one-sided view, must change its attitude towards designing spaces with the ability to accept a combination of men and women. Today, when women are present in society just like men, they must have the necessary security and comfort to be present, to spend their leisure time and to travel. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to achieve the comfort of women to increase their presence in social spaces. In order to achieve this goal, first, the factors affecting environmental comfort and how gender affects them have been identified. The results of this section indicated that thermal comfort was more important than other factors affecting environmental comfort and also most studies indicated a slight difference in the perception of thermal comfort by men and women. In the next section, the deterrents and motivators and the spatial-physical needs of women are discussed. Then, based on the results of the studies, guidelines for designing a neighborhood center in Tehran as a social space have been proposed. In the last stage, based on the guidelines, the design of the neighborhood center has been paid.
