Plenty of people living in the suburbs necessarily tend to refer to big cities to use medical services. A micro-hospital, in these cities, has extreme economic, Social, living, and environmental benefits. This thesis includes two main sections. The first section aims to define a micro-hospital for small cities. At first small-scale hospitals were considered through literature review and defining indicators were extracted. At second, determining indicators accurately based on the micro-hospital’s location in Iran, the factors were surveyed by 6 Medical space designers and 3 hospital quality improvement and management experts using a questionnaire. These indicators were categorized into 2 groups; ‘Micro-hospital construction Criteria’ and ‘Functional definition of micro-hospital.’ The definition of each indicator was obtained according to the majority of opinions. This study showed that first of all, ‘Micro-hospital construction Criteria’ determines whether an area is eligible to have a micro-hospital or not. Then, an appropriate site will be selected according to the defined indicators. At last, hospital designing and programming will be done based on the given prototype. In addition, appropriate approaches in designing micro-hospital were explained, and prefabrication was chosen for the second section. The second section aims to determine the most appropriate level of prefabrication in the construction of micro-hospitals. At first impactful factors and subfactors on the determination of prefabrication level were listed. In addition, according to building layers’ information and prefabrication elements in each layer, 3 prefabrication levels were suggested for micro-hospital construction. Then to find the most appropriate prefabrication level, 9 healthcare design experts and 3 structural engineers were asked to rate the factors and subfactors and then choose one of the suggested levels for micro-hospital construction, based on the factors’ rates. The components related to economics are considered the most impactful ones and among the three suggested prefabrication levels, 42% of the statistical population as the majority, selected the first prebafrication level.
