In recent decades, efforts to prolong the life of existing structures in which their current activity is not fit with their values have become increasingly important. Demolition of existing buildings is detrimental to the ecosystem and is contrary to the preservation of local identity. If the building has cultural values, this issue becomes doubly sensitive. How Interior-architecture-Re-design can conserve cultural value and develop them? This is the main goal of this research. Its focus is on those buildings are not historical monumental because they should just be preserved for studying such as a document and they don’t need to adaptive reuse for remain vital. Interior Approach reflected two issue here: 1-Interior body; because of some physical elements that are mentioned, and 2-Soul of space; that is the most important references for adaptive reuse inspiration. Built environment`s alteration is an inevitably happening during the time; That is including heritage too. So, change management is the most dominant subject should be considered. Change management through heritage interior architecture`s redesign seeks conservation and development of their values and convey them to the next generations. The research approach in this study is of a qualitative, with logical argumentation as strategy. In the first Step, four main Adaptive Reuse priorities were chosen from the reviewed literature: Host Space Function, Programmatic Approach to New Use, Technical Requirements and Design-oriented strategies and solutions. These priorities were studied and then the most important weaknesses and drawbacks of these approaches to Adaptive Reuse were analyzed in combination with the Nara Grid and semi-structured interviews with experts. These theoretical priorities do not negate each other; in fact, they are rather complementary. However, if one of them gains too much importance in the process it can lead to many losses. Of their most important disadvantages, the following are worth mentioning: A physical outlook and a lack of attention to intangible and soft values, a lack of attention to the meaning and characteristics of functions of the building in the past, ignoring the human presence and its needs, ignoring architectural details and interior architecture, lack of interdisciplinary research, and lack of adequate strategies in line with building values. The First and fundamental step in the way of adaptive reuse design is rereading and recognition of the values. Evaluation of Kashan historical houses that are repurposing as boutique hotel, proved that Although has been spending much money and time, the negligence of rereading and interpretation of values has been caused some disadvantages in conservation goals. Common conservationists` consideration cares the degree of intervention whereases case studies have shown manner of intervention works much more effectively. Conservative treatments don`t guarantee the conservation of values.
Accordingly, by semi-structured interviews with experts, the values of a building in eight types are "Age", "symbolic", "narrative", "spiritual-religious", "Aesthetic", "spatial characteristics", "activity - Use," " Evidential" and interior architecture space was described in three categories of "fixed-Feature Space", "Semi-fixed Feature Space " and "Informal Space". The purpose of this theoretical framework was to provide the values and spaces of interior architecture with the shortest path to the design language, and, as far as possible, the path to various interpretations. In addition to helping the design team to recognize values, this provides a framework for evaluating changes in user experience in terms of success rate in maintaining and improving the values of the building on the scale of interior architecture. On this basis, we can evaluate the approach to them in terms of the weight of each of the values. With this strategy, a suitable solution can be achieved for each specific building. The evaluation of the case study of this thesis showed that with the help of this theoretical framework it is possible to take into account all the values of the work and to reveal how much they have been considered and promoted to each other. On the other hand, it is possible to examine all the spatial capacities of the manifestation of values. The study also revealed that the focus on Informal Space, including human activities and relationships, as part of the interior architecture of the project, has remained largely neglected. Finally, some future studies could be suggested such as repositioning different disciplines that are involve in adaptive reuse process and determine their territories.
