In this thesis, while reviewing various design methods of broadband and high-efficiency amplifiers, the design of a 20-watt microwave amplifier in the frequency band of 0.5 to 2 GHz has been done using the harmonic tuning method up to the layout stage. The design process has been done with the help of CGH40025F transistor large signal model, fabricated by Cree Company. In all the design stages of this amplifier, we have used Hassan software, which is a powerful software in the field of designing high frequency circuits.
In order to achieve an acceptable output power level and efficiency, with the idea of using the optimal impedance zones instead of the optimal impedance points, the main frequency impedances in the frequency range of 0.5 to 2 GHz and the higher harmonics in the frequency range of 2.5 to 4 GHz have been identified using load pull and source pull simulations and by defining a suitable optimization method for designing impedance matching networks, load and source impedances have been located in these optimal areas. The performance evaluation of the designed amplifier, under the continuous wave test, showed an output power of 43-45.8dBm, power gain of 10-12.8dB and Drain efficiency of 57 to 78% over 122% of the fractional bandwidth.
The designed amplifier in the frequency range of 0.52 to 2.1 GHz, can support three generations of communications, simultaneously, including several different standards in GSM, CDMA, UMTS and LTE. and can be directly used in applications such as 2nd generation ( GSM ) , that gained of nonlinear amplifier in 1800-DC, 1900-PCS, 710, 750, 810 T-GSM, 850, 900P MHz band. In addition to being usable in radar applications, it also covers the standards of CDMA-2000's third generation networks, such as 700PS, 800 MHz PAMR, JTACS, 2GHz, 900, 1600 L-Band, 1800, Korean PCS, 1900 PCS. In addition, an amplifier that includes L band. In the fourth generation network, it also covers LTE standards like 600, 700a, 700EU, 700APT, 700ME, 800 Upper, 850, 900GSM, AWS-1, TD 1500, TD 1900, TD PCS Lower, 1600 L-band, 1800, 2100.
