The role of pedestrian spaces in strengthening the social and cultural foundations of the city is undeniable because an important part of social and cultural interactions take place in urban spaces. Walking is the most important opportunity to see places, activities and feel the excitement of life and discover the values and attractions hidden in the environment. Sidewalks operate on a city-wide scale and cater to a diverse group of citizens due to their characteristics in social interactions in the age of virtual communication and economic stimulation of the surrounding areas, as well as multi-functional zones that provide a wide range of activities. Includes the presence of more and more citizens in the city and the enjoyment of its visual, cultural and social values. Therefore, this project intends to design and organize Glim Street with a pedestrian approach. This street is located between two important urban parks, which are always of interest to many citizens and tourists, and at the south end of the axis is the Museum of Glim (Partner Pich). One of the goals of this project is to upgrade Glim Street to a sidewalk in the direction of pedestrian orientation in line with the goals of sustainable development and to create a socio-cultural space for residents and tourists in transit. What points should be paid attention to the sidewalk and the central socio-cultural design in the bed of Sirjan city in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development? The theoretical foundations of this research have been obtained through library and documentary studies and in the next stages, descriptive-analytical method and field interpretation have been used.
According to the above, the studies of this dissertation have been done in five chapters. In the first chapter, the problem, the need for research, the goals and questions raised and the background of related research will be discussed. In the second chapter, theoretical foundations including lexicography, history and definitions and concepts of sidewalks from the perspective of thinkers will be examined and the position of pedestrians in sustainable transportation, components and characteristics of sidewalks, the main pillars of sidewalk design will be examined. In the third chapter, successful examples of sidewalks in the external and internal arenas, which are especially similar to the project site in terms of climatic characteristics, and the reasons for the success and failure of each are examined. In the fourth chapter, the research environment will be examined, which includes the historical background and the process of physical growth of the city, geographical, climatic, social and demographic characteristics. In the fifth chapter, the current situation will be examined and the case site will be analyzed. The geographical location of Glim Street and its place in the ossification system, blocking, accesses, and uses of the current situation will be examined. At the end of the chapter, the analysis will be done by swot method. In the sixth chapter, by formulating the desired situation and explaining the goals and strategies and policies derived from previous chapters, these studies were used in the design and all its objectives were achieved and a comprehensive three-dimensional plan was completed.
Since in organizing and designing an urban sidewalk, walls are among the factors that define the view of a street and strengthen the presence of people, but in this plan, considering that the street in question does not have any walls on both sides. It has not been possible to do much work on the street view and walls. Due to the location of the street between two important urban parks, this sidewalk has a high ability to become a sustainable axis and as much as possible has tried to use examples of sustainability in its design. This research has faced it. We can point to the lack of information and maps required from the context of the project.
