Membrane modification has been considered in recent years to improve structural and functional properties. Membrane modification can be done in different ways such as adding nanoparticles, surface polymerization, plasma, etc. Blended matrix membranes have shown significant progress for separation. In this study, in order to improve the properties of PVC membranes, PVC mixed matrix membranes embedded in nanoclay containing 1, 2 and 3 wt%, nanoparticles using phase inversion method on nonwoven filter paper as a backing layer for effective salt retention from wate Was made. Significant improvement in membrane hydrophilicity, porosity, pure water flux and post-weighting was observed by installing nanoclay up to 2 wt%. However, it was found that the integration of nanoclay in PVC membranes can improve the performance of membranes. The highest Rejection Percentage was 94.78 using of PVC and 2 wt% nanoclay mixed matrix membranes. In addition, the membrane contact angle decreased from 79.83 ° for pure membranes to 63.25 ° for nanoparticle mixed matrix membranes, indicating a 20% increase in membrane hydrophilicity. Also, the pure membrane flux was 75.15 kg.m-2h-1, which was 131.512 kg.m-2h-1 in the mixed matrix membrane.
